Does anyone here know if I go in to buy the 6s on the upgrade program AND trade in my current 6 how I will be compensated. What I mean to say is will I simply receive credit for my old phone or can I make my monthly upgrade payments less?

The monthly payment would by default be less because you are decreasing the amount you finance when factoring in your trade in credit.

All I know is when I bought my wife's SE we traded in her 5S and we did not get an option for applying the trade in towards monthly payments. They credited my CC $150 and then did the payments as usual. Adds up the same so I didn't care.

The rep you got sucked then, because you should have gotten $9 something bonus credit, and it should have lowered the cost of your payments. I got the 64GB SE. After trading in my 5s, my monthly payments are $14.16.

I traded in my iPhone 6 for a 6s plus. They credited my credit card the trade in allowance. Since there was a credit, I did not actually pay any monthly payments until the credit was exhausted. The monthly payment did not change.

Apple offers $250 credit for the iPhone 6, so that would make the iPhone 6s $400 after trading in your iPhone 6.

But if you trade it in and get a 16GB iPhone 6s, you'd only get charged $16/month. Over two years, that's $384, meaning you'd get $266 for your iPhone 6s ($16 bonus credit).

So if you're just trading in your old phone for credit and buying the phone after, your first several payments won't come out of your credit card, but you'll pay more every month when you do and you'll get a little less for your phone.

I guess that's true then! I had an issue anyways because I preordered (meaning I had to pay up front) then when I showed up they had an issue letting me do payments. Said I had to return that phone and that I could not rebuy it.

Anyways, wasn't a big deal. Turns out to be the same for me. My wife keeps her phones for a few years usually.

Oh, then yeah, you wouldn't have been able to do it. You have to buy it at the Apple Store and they have to have stock when you do. You can't order it online.

i had to return it first. So it should have been the same as an in store purchase.

But like you said, you couldn't buy it back. So you'd have to hope they had another phone in stock.
It was the same as an in store purchase. What reason were you given for "not able to repurchase" the same device in-store?

It sounds like the rep did not want to bother to complete all of the proper steps. I did it with an iPhone 6S last fall: purchased online, used pay in full and then returned to retail store and repurchased using the Apple upgrade program.

I fear I've derailed the thread. They originally said I could not repurchase but a manager fixed that. It did not change my options for how to apply my trade in. Sounds like it was an uninformed employee though.
