Perhaps you are asking too much. You'll never get a better deal via trade in than selling directly to someone through Craigslist. Try dropping the asking price some and provide pictures if you aren't.

Also put your phone number in your Craigslist ad. Most serious buyers want to call you. They don't want to email. I've found most serious buyers want to speak to you, then head to your house immediately and pay cash.

Wow that's a good deal. The RMBP can be had in the Apple Refurb section for $1599, 256GB SSD, 8GB RAM. If your trying to trade for the $2799 retina with 512GB SSD, 16GB RAM, no one will trade you. Your laptop is worth in my mind (just my $0.02) $1700-$2000 depending on when applecare runs out, wear and tear etc. Cause I can get a refurb 17 inch antiglare early 2011 model for $1519 or glossy for $1399 and then get the 512GB SSD for $400-$450 and 16GB RAM is $169-$180. So i'm at $1519+$180+$450 = $2149 but then again I get a fresh one year warranty that I can extend to 3 years. So that's why I think your overvaluing your laptop if you want the higher end RMBP, but if you'll take the RMBP 256GB SSD, 8GB RAM then you should be able to make the trade. You could always sell the laptop for $1900 on Amazon and pay the 6% Amazon seller fee or ebay which is flat 10% fee and paypal is 3.5% fee. Just my suggestions and opinions.
