Trade my iPhone 5 for Galaxy 3 good deal or should I ask for plus cash?

iPhone 5 used is worth about $500 right now. He should give you an additional $100-150 cash because the S3 is only worth around $300-350 right now.

Also the value of the S3 is about to drop tremendously over the next few weeks so if you wait it will only be worth $200-250 by the end of April and you could get more cash out of the trade.

Every post except this one is ignorant of the difference between phone value and phone features. It doesn't matter what it does, what matters is the iPhone 5 is more valueable (they are selling for more $$$). You can list 1000 things the SIII does that the iPhone 5 can't, but it still doesn't matter. In order to get a fair trade, OP needs to add cash considerations to his exchange.

In short, when it comes to value, features have little weight, monetary value is everything.

How is a phone that does way fewer things and missing so many features better than a phone that has them all and works very well like the s3?

galaxy s4 > galaxy s3 > future iphone 5s > iphone 5

This is exactly how i feel with my iphone. The technology/ innovation on the gs3 is already generations ahead of my iphone 5. The galaxy s4 simply has no other competition (except for the HTC One).

Despite this, i still love my iphone 5. I understand all the hate going on with the iphone. Yes the OS is stale and outdated. Despite this it still does what i want. I have no complains (except that it is boring). It is a premium phone that works & functions well. What i said above is simply my opinion. You may agree or disagree, it doesnt bother me.

To OP, i would check your local craigslist and see how much your iphone 5 and galaxy s3 would go for. In my city 16gb iphone 5 is about $500 while the 16gb galaxy s3 about $380. (And when the s4 comes out i can see it go down to $250-300)
