My 64GB iPhone 4S has only 20GB left and I don't even have any movies/tv shows loaded. There's no way I could do less than a 64GB iPad especially since I do like to watch hi def movies/tv when I'm waiting around for my kids' extracurricular classes or when I'm on trips. That still didn't stop my husband from trying to convince me that I only "needed a 16" :D

Probably not. Cloud-based technologies are evolving fast, and Apple is trying to stay on the cutting edge but building more and more humongous data centers to house all the cloud data. Soon enough, all your pictures and videos will be joining your documents (Pages, etc. in iCloud) and music (iTunes Match) in the cloud. Wait a while longer, once LTE technologies and better start becoming pervasive, then streaming technologies like OnLive will make it so you don't even need to store apps locally anymore, just play through the air. We are heading to a hard drive-less future.

Sounds great if you have unlimited data. But for the rest of us we have to worry about data usage, caps, throttling. The telecom companies are going to stop at nothing to slow progress to a stand still.

I view the iPad as a mobile media device.
With that in mind I load it up with movies, TV shows, home videos, photos, etc.
plus all the apps and a few games.

Not interested in trusting all that stuff in a cloud
When I tap a piece of media it plays immediately - I do not have to wait for a stream or download. And i do not have to pay any monthly fees.

It's funny how we all feel the need to justify are purchasing decisions.

enjoy!

64 really is the only option. Anyone who says 16 GB is enough is just trying to justify their cheapness. :D

Wrong. I went from a 64gig iPad 2 to a 16gb new iPad. I still have 11 gigs of space as I only have on the iPad what I use. 16 gigs is more Han enough for anyone.

Not really...In my case, I take long plane trips, and I like a large selection of things to choose from, i.e. movies and music. Of course, "large" is a relative term...In my case, I never know what I'll be in the mood for...so the 64GB suits me fine.

I've 5GB of music on mine and 9 apps. Already consumed just under 14GB. all I can say is good luck to those two bought the 16GB version!

I'm glad I changed my mind in the last minute and upgraded to a 32GB iPad. :)

I have a phone for my music as the ipad is too big for a music player.

I have my music on the phone to but when am at home I use my iPad as a laptop and enjoy playing music from when when using it in the best or sofa to read or browse.

I bought a 16 gb and don't feel the need to justify why I purchased this model, and I certainly don't feel cheap for doing so. :D

I had a 16GB iPad 2 but it got full so went for the 32GB this time round. I have a bunch of movies/TV episodes on it for when I'm travelling and like a selection. Plus I ended up having to take off some apps as I didn't have enough space, even with only 3 movies on the iPad.

With HD videos now, I think even the 32GB may be a bit small. And yeah, have a 32GB iPhone 4S for music.

Yeah let's see... I've had every iPhone & iPad on launch day. Actually two of them, one for the wife too. Both prior iPads were 32gb. This time round I bought 16 gb. Why? Because I'm cheap? Hardly... I don't need the space. I manage my content, most in the cloud these days. My iPhone has plenty of space too.

Some of us are well endowed and don't overcompensate with "large capacity" :D

Describes my situation perfectly. I opted for the 32 im the previous 2 generations because I thought I would be putting more content on it but I ended up streaming everything as I do with my iPhone. Helps I'm grandfathered too.

Got the 16GB and I am not complaining. Videos? From web. Music? Use spotify and have a huge library without taking up space. Only store a few gigs of obscure space. Don't install a ton of apps that you don't use. I have all the apps I will ever need and they dont take up more than a few GB. Not quite sure what people need 64GB for but I sure as heck don't need that much!

Agreed! 16gb is just fine for me and my family. I don't feel I need to keep every app I own on my device at all times. Music and movies maybe but not my apps.

Streaming from where? I guess if you're around the house and have a PC on all the time then it would be fine. If I'm in the house though I'l stream to the TV. I'm looking for a device to take content with me wherever I go.

16GB is the best for when you going to resell. 64GB is the best to go with for long term. 32GB most ripoff

Welp, because of the Retina screen and to really enjoy the APPS, I had to return mine for a 64gb model. I ran out of space really fast.
