My brother in law wants to trade in his iPad for a new 11 and looked on the Apple web site and it said you could trade in the iPads in the store. What it doesn't specify and I couldn't answer him was do they give you instant credit towards a purchase or do they send it in and give you credit in the future? He has no interest in using one of the other trade in places even though he could get more as he is traveling for Thanksgiving and wants to pick one up right away. Anyone?

They will give you a gift card that can be used as instant credit for his purchase. It is throwing away money as their trade in prices are extremely low, but it is painless and you don't have to deal with selling it.

Thanks - I tried to tell him that, but he is in a hurry.

They immediately deduct it from the cost of the new iPad you’re buying. Most people sell their iPads privately cause they usually get a lot more $$ for them...but it’s not as convenient as trading them at the Apple Store. I asked about trading in my old iPad mini 2 with the cracked screen & broken home button...lol..but they didn’t offer me any money. They did however offer to take it off my hands and recycle it. Lol.
