you can return it free of charge
you can go into the store within 14 days and return the phone without a restocking fee, since ATT allows returns with the plan for that amount of time. as I was told by apple store the grove when i switched my cracking white one, for a perfect black one.
on a separate note:
going from 3 whites ones to 1 black one, i have noticed a few things. I really think the build quality is better on the black, all my white ones, the screen was raised just a hair above rest of the unit, and 3 of the white ones had cracks in the casing, and my reception was worse on all. i switched to the black one, and the screen looks clearer, the case sits more flush and the reception is on avg, 1-2 bars better. the only think i noticed, and it is just my phone, but unlike all the other iphones ive seen, my vibrate button kinda rattles in my phone a little. not terrible, I am going to live with it, but it is very distinguishably different from all the other whites and blacks. like its not seated correctly.
