Trading in iPhone 7 Plus Before Preorder or After iPhone X Purchase

Hey guys!

I'm attempting to trade in my iPhone 7 Plus for the $425 Apple credit and applying it to the purchase of my iPhone X bringing the total down to $825. If I preorder the device, and opt for in store pickup would this be an option?

Or is there an option in the Apple Store app to do this?

I think you should be able to do it any time within the 14 day return period. Not 100% sure, though.
