traditional to simplified chinese

I'm not sure this is the right place to post my question so I apologize if I'm writing in the wrong section.

My question is: is there an automatic way to convert/translate a text written in traditional chinese into simplified chinese?

If you use for example textedit, mark the stuff you want to convert, go to textedit - services and chose "convert simplified/traditional". Done and done.
