hi, will you be making a 128GB for the late 2013 rMBP?
Hello jgc,
We have the JetDrive Lite 360 for the late 2013 15" rMBP. Unfortunately for the 13" rMBP, the slot dimensions are too small to allow for a 128GB model.

Nice! That could make a big difference. Now all we need is for Apple to support splitting the iTunes library across devices. That is audio(music) on one device video on another.
Camera companies are already including WiFi in their devices and maybe even switch to a faster cabled connection. So SD cards will soon be a thing of the past. That's why I stopped investing in SD cards 4 years ago. It's going to be like the floppy disk soon.
Any additional details? If it's flush, how do you pull it out?
I don't agree. Yes, more cameras are including wifi, but you still need a device to send the data TO. If you're out in the wilderness without a laptop or phone to dump the data on, those photos have to be stored somewhere. I can't see camera manufacturers eliminating card slots anytime soon.
iTunes has supported that for years, you can choose the location for every individual file that's in iTunes. So you could just have a few movies on an external drive if you wanted (instead of the entire movie library for example) but it's completely up to you where you want everything to be stored and it can be across as many drives as you want.
I don't know about you, but half the price is kinda significant to me. $50 for 64Gb instead of $100 is worth a MacRumors post.
LaCai has been making these for a while, barely sticks out of the side and only $79 for the 128gig.
The StorEdge is $39 for 64 GB, and $75 for 128 GB. I don't know where you're getting your prices
We'll see how that translates to street prices of course, since the PNY MSRP is way above street.
They are available on Amazon.uk but selling out fast (if not already sold out)Any idea when this will be available in the UK..?
Hey! Hey! This is a wholesome apple forum. Save that kind of talk for the bedroom!![]()
How are you going to store those 1000 shots of the Grand Canyon to transfer by WiFi afterward? No, I don't think SD cards are going anywhere for quite a long time.Actually SD slots may be gone very soon. Remember PCMIA and ExpressCard slots. They were used to connect faster/additional storage and most commonly used for broadband connections. But now we have USB 3.x and TB for data connectivity and we have mobile hotspots from individual devices that offer WiFi or through our phones offering 4G/LTE speeds.

This is nothing more than a StorEdge clone:

And btw the nifty mini drive is a far worse deal than a StorEdge when you factor in price, speed and the micro SD cards to have to buy. Get a StorEdge instead.
Only thing that potential buyers should be aware of is this - when an SD card is mounted, the system will not enter "Standby Mode" (deep sleep) so you shouldn't be leaving it in overnight unless connected to a power source.
Now what we need is iTunes etc. modified so that part of a library can be stored on an external card, or possibly two, and that the software stays well-behaved if that card isn't present. Also great for cheap portable Time Machine backup device.
I'm not saying DSLR's are going away. I'm just saying P&S cameras will eventually go away. Not because they are less capable than smartphone cameras, but because of sales and popularity. People don't want to carry that many devices around.
As with DSLRs, you'll have built-in storage as well. But I do know a lot of photographers who tether their cameras via USB to their laptops or use wireless SD cards that transmit their files to their computers. So it's already, in a sense, being done.
Sure it won't happen this year or next year, but by 2020 P&S cameras will be so rare to come by. People can deny this all they want, but technology and time have proven many wrong.
Does the 11" not have the requisite slot? I don't have mine in front of me.
And this is the reason why I don't use my Nifty MiniDrive and why these JetDrive Lites also are not usable for me.
I rather save some money to buy one of their SSD replacements instead of a slower semi-external drive which disables power-saving features of my MacBook.
