As long as they make more money with the $100-intervals than with any other, more realistic interval, why should they change the pricing?

because we dont care how much money they make, we just dont want to get hosed
though everything is about money, especially apple's pricing demeanor

funny how people whine about beats pricing, when apple charges $100 for 16gb that is no better than any other manufacturer's 16gb

In my opinion, these are very fast speeds for an SD-type drive.
The speed approaches that of the average laptop hard drive (at
least for read speeds). A typical Class 10 SD card is rated only
at 10MB/s write.

Given the speed, I think these are quite well priced. To give
a price comparison, a SandDisk 128GB MicroSDXC rated at
30MB/s read will cost you $120 on Amazon.com. And to top
it off, you'd have to buy an adapter (e.g. Nifty) to fit it flush
with your MacBook.

Hello a.coward,
We think you'll like the selling price on amazon even more now.
64GB for $39.99
128GB for $79.99

Does it in any way affect battery life having the card drive permanently "mounted"? (Assuming you don't write and read all the time from it)

Another company that does something similar say it will cost you about 3% more battery life.

Sick. But how about 128gb for 13 retina?

or can JetDrive Lite 360 work with 13" rMBP even if it will have few mm outside?

Just wanting to clarify something here, as I know there have been issues with the various models of the 13" MBP with retina and that some devices won't work in the latest rMBP 13" (released in October 2013). Does the 64 GB JetDrive Lite Expansion card work and fit properly in this model?

Hello dezmen,
Thank you for your interest in our product! We would make a 128GB version of our JDL330 if it were physically possible with the MLC flash we're using, but the card slot is simply too small. It's the same reason why PNY's StorEDGE product sticks out half an inch on the 13 inch rMBP.

Hello Clix Pix,
Yes, our JetDrive Lite 330 is properly sized for the 13" rMBP. Please take a look at our website to see the physical differences between the various JetDrive Lites.

So it's possible to use 128gb from 15" model? It's not that big tho. Difference in few mm.

I'll third this question - if it helps this time?

I seriously wish Time Machine allowed for alternate backups - one for the entire machine and another for recent projects. Keeping this plugged in and having the hourly updates would be great, while I could go with the larger external USB for weekly backups.

I suppose I could be less lazy and use Jettison with this drive, though - to deal with any possible battery issues?

Hello CrashX,
Our JetDrive Lite doesn't draw enough power to make any noticeable impact on battery life.

Regarding the issue of Mavericks not entering "deep sleep" with a card in the card reader, we are still investigating this. (Mavericks will still enter normal sleep with our JetDrive Lite inserted.) This deep sleep issue can be avoided by powering down your mac if you intend on not using it for an extended period of time (more than a few days). To be perfectly honest, we've been testing these cards for months now and haven't noticed this issue.

I know that:p But question was - is it gonna work? :D But i'm pretty sure it will, so I'm gonna go with 128gb for 13" rMBP

Hello dezmen,
Sorry, there seems to be some miscommunication. The JetDrive Lite 360 128GB version WILL NOT be flush on a 13" rMBP. Only the JetDrive Lite 330 is sized for the 13" rMBP.

I know that Lite 360 will not be "flush", but it still will go in and work? It's just gonna stick out for few quorter/half inch?

Sorry but as good as camera phone are they are lacking.
The sensor is small and the low light performance is bad.
Not to say you can't get decent pictures. In most cases a bad picture is better than no picture.

P&S cameras and larger Micro 4/3, APC-C Samsung and DSLR cameras still sell for those that want to add a real flash and accessories.

I'm not saying camera phones are better. I'm saying they are more popular and widely used. Social media statistics of image uploads from mobile phones provide the real data. Camera companies are suffering on P&S.

Eventually the P&S will die. Especially since year after year camera phones haven't gotten better and better in all aspects.

Except you're not taking to account the fact that Camera companies are going to keep using them. You have to have a small device to insert in both computer AND camera.

They will adapt. They are already starting to. SD cards will soon be a thing of the past.

It's just an SD Card...

Yes, it's just a massively overpriced SD card in a smaller casing that doesn't stick out of the side of the Mac. It isn't an "expansion card". It's an SD card. Strange that it's getting so much attention.

I think it might have something to do with Macs always having ports on their laptops that are rarely used because no company usually cares to mass produce anything form-fitted to the Mac? And apparently we have a serious "group issue" with aesthetics - so things can't "stick out" :)

And something was created for a Mac that wasn't overpriced 500x because Lacie paid a royalty fee to use the "Porsche" name on the product?

But I don't know why Transcend didn't go with silver - because hey, it's black and that doesn't match :)

I need to go stretch out my skinny jeans.

Also, can someone PLEASE write a script for Time Machine so I can maintain hourly backups of my work on this little disk and weekly backups of the whole machine on a different drive?

I know there are other options - but Time Machine is so aesthetically pleasing - I just go back in time and things seem so safe and tidy and drag and droppable in that Time Machine world.

But no - all I'm allowed to do is have one Time Machine backup x(

Hey Transcend guy - have someone at your office get on that for us - y'all have tons of money.

I don't know if you can boot from it. But, you could install VirtualBox (or some other virtualization software), and put the VM image on the SSD device.

So this means I could load Windows 7 (or 8) while OSX is running? Just like when using parallels?

I would never trust Transcend. They have poor quality control and long term reliability. Yes they're super inexpensive and have great performance specs for the price, but I must have had 15 different Transcend memory cards over the years and most of them turned to be corrupted with my data on them after months of use. I have just as many SandDisk cards and have never seen such poor reliability as I have with Transcend. Remember, you get what you pay for.

Well that doesn't seem right. I was all excited - why doesn't the title read "Horribly unreliable company creates form-fitted expansion card guaranteed to crap out after a few months."

Do you work for Crucial? You guys are such snobs with your perfect memory that never fails...

I trust the Transcend marketing guy who has been testing these babies for months and experienced zero problems.

Sorry but sounds like offended kid. I got some Transcend sd cards and they are working for few years now. No issues with them at all.
