    Hi,

My mum had (still has in her possession) an iPhone 5c, which she dropped and damaged. Its still usable, but the screen is a bit temperamental.

She has now got an iPhone 6s as a replacement and she would like to transfer her photos from one phone to another. She has never backed her 5c up to iCloud, or computer (I don't think iCloud is even set up on her phone).

What would be the best and easiest way to transfer her photos from her 5c to her 6s?

    Cheers
    Stewart

EDIT - This was supposed to be in the iPhone fourm - sorry. Mods please feel free to move!

Take a back up and restore.

It it's not a crazy amount of pictures she can always just airdrop them

No it's really okay, you can ask it wherever you want. Just take complete backup and restore it. As you are transferring it from iPhone to iPhone, you will not face any issue.

Why not just transfer the 5C photos to your computer, place them in albums, and then sync them back to the 6S through iTunes.

Though it is an option, I wouldn't recommend it. Then she would have to use the computer to delete unwanted photos, which would probably just cause headaches later on.

You can use AirDrop to transfer the photos over.

Delete what unwanted photos? Why would you delete the photos on your computer?

If you sync photos onto an iPhone with iTunes, you can't delete them from the iPhone. You have to remove them from the synced folder or turn off photo syncing. It's a hassle.

I have been doing it since iPhone 3, and no it's not a hassle. That also gives you an extra backup of your photos. But, to each his own.....

You can use AirDrop. Though you can't select all photos at once, just Tap on Select and then select the very first photo she wants and swipe all the way down to the last photo she wants. It'll select all files in between and AirDrop them to her new phone.

Yes it isn't the best solution, but I guess you don't need anything else than your phones.

Thanks for the suggestions, she doesn't really want to restore her backup, as she has her new 6s working as she likes it, except her photos.

I think I will try the Airdrop route - I don't think she has a huge amount of photos so shouldn't take long.

It works using the USB camera connector kit, plug the kit into the new phone, then regular lightning cable from there to the 5C, and it'll show up as a camera

I really would love to see Apple create a way to use Bluetooth to keep devices in sync, make calls, transfer pics, etc. Basically anything that iCloud would sync. I often find myself trying to get pics from my iPhone to my iPad to view and edit before they've had a chance to sync via iCloud which often takes a long time even when on wifi.
