Recently I installed a new hard drive in my PowerMac G5.

I want it to become the startup volume but for all my documents, settings etc to remain exactly the same.

Is it possible to use a utility to copy the contents of my existing 80GB hard drive onto the new 250GB hard drive and then just select the new hard drive as the startup volume?

use Carbon Copy Cloner to clone the contents of the old hard drive to the new. then in Startup Disk in System Preferences select the new hard drive as the startup disk. to make things easier dont give the hard drives the same name.
