Has anyone temporarily transferred an Apple Watch to their child?

My son has an AppleID and an iPod. I have an Apple Watch SE with a cell plan paired to my iPhone/account.

I could envision wanting to let him borrow my watch for an afternoon or a day. Has anyone done this where they transfer to their child and then back to themselves? Is it possible? A giant hassle?

I can not see you moving the watch over to your kids iPod as it does not have an Watch App. You will need to buy your kid an iPhone!😳

You can do that, when you are pairing the watch to your phone, you can select to pair it for a family member and enter his information. But to do it temporarily would be too much hassle.

I think it's possible, but a hassle. Not that I've actually tried this, but I think you'd do:
1. Unpair watch
2. Set it up for your kid using family setup

Then, when you want to switch it back to yourself, you'd:
3. Reset watch to factory
4. Pair it with your phone and restore from backup, which is automatically created when you do step 1.

Steps 2 and 4 can take a while -- you don't want to be doing that while you are rushing to take your kid to their afternoon sport practice or whatever.

So possible, yes. Worth it? IMO, questionable.

Edit: I also don't know what this will do to the watch's cell plan, I've never had a cellular watch.
