I do not think you can do this without something in between.

You will probably need something like a nas type storage then both devices can see it on your wifi network.

I use a samsung device for this.
my ipod/iphone/ipad can see it and can put data onto it then android can see it and copy data from it.

no internet needed just this device.

all: I found app Instashare. I know it must be installed on both iPad and Android tablet. And it has app for Mac too, so I would be able to transfer files directly from Android tablet to Mac. But Instashare for iOS does not work for me (bugged). Any idea?
