transfering iphone 4

I am giving a family member my iphone 4 for their use. They have an AT&T plan and know they need to add iphone data plan. can they just put in their AT&T Sims card into the iphone after i erase all my old data???

They'll need to cut it into microsim if it's not one already, then yes they can just insert it in
