Transfering phone number to contacts?

Is it possible to transfer a number that has called you to your contacts?

I tried searching, but most of the info was ipnone/mac

Click on Recents then click on the arrow to the right of the number then click on Create New Contact.

In the past when I have done that it usually goes to the number...

If you click on the number in Recents it will dial that number but if you click on the blue arrow at the right it will take you to a screen with some details and choices, one of which is to create a contact. I for a long time had the problem of unintentionally dialing the recent number rather than going to the detail screen until it eventually sunk in what the blue arrow does.

Click on Recents then click on the arrow to the right of the number then click on Add to existing Contact.
