....it seems impossible. Can someone please provide me with clear step-by-step instructions on how to transfer my video from my Canon Vixia HF100 to imovie (version 8.0.4)?

Allegedly imovie was supposed to support it (AVCHD) but when I plug the camera into my mac it registers as "no name" and all of the video clips are greyed out and untransferable.

Do I need to convert it somehow? Can someone recommend a good program? (reasonably priced - I'm a student).

Thanks so much!

Open up iMovie 09 and plug your camera in via USB, also make sure your camera is connected to a power source. I have the same camera and have no issues doing it this way. When you plug your camera in you'll see a menu selection on the camera LCD, select PC/Printer.
