Hello everyone!

Selling my Series 7 and will be setting up my Ultra from a backup.

I know that when I unpair and erase my Series 7 a question comes up as to whether I want to keep or cancel my cellular service.

Knowing I will activate it on my Ultra, should I erase it on my 7 or just let it be?

I figure if I let it be, the service will just reactivate on the new watch. However, in doing that, will it be erased from the old so nobody else can use it?

Just need to know which answer to provide when I unpair and erase my own watch. Remember, I want to continue using cellular.

Thanks

At least with Verizon, this is what I did:

Unpair the old watch, select “keep” when it asks about the cellular data.

Pair the new watch and when it asks about cellular data, select set up cellular. It should then open a web portal with your carrier, with an option to “replace an existing device”.

You should then see your old watch listed. Select that, and your new watch will activate and replace it on the same plan.

I’m still expecting an activation fee on my next bill though unfortunately.

I know that Verizon is charging $35 to upgrade an iPhone however, I certainly hope they aren't going to upcharge me to transfer my plan from one watch to another.

I do share your concern though as it's highly possible.

Thanks for the response. Since posting my question I did some research and more answers I could find pointed to canceling the cellular on the old watch before transferring it to a new one. So, I went that route. Should probably equate to the same thing in the end.

Thanks again

It’s surprisingly easy to do, at least on T-Mobile. You don’t even have to unpair the old watch if you plan to keep it. Simply remove the cellular plan from the old watch, which is a one-click operation in the Watch app on your phone. Then when you are setting up the new watch, it will ask whether you want to use your existing plan or add a new line. Select existing, and you’re done.
