Transferring custom ringtones from ios device to another or computer

As the title states I need to transfer some ringtone that I have on an ipad onto my iPhone or Mac. Does anyone know of a way to do so?
 
Will backing up the iPad to iTunes and then installing the ringtones on the other devices via the iTunes backup work?
