Ugh, annoying.

My old iPhone: 11PM 256GB

My new iPhone: 12PM 128GB

My old iPhone used only 50GB of storage. Yet when I tried transferring data from old iPhone to new iPhone, the transfer failed due to insufficient storage.

Why? And how does this make any sense?

Check Settings > General > Storage and make sure that Health app is not several petabytes in size. Second, try to make encrypted backup > restore with iTunes. Any luck?

I was in the same boat OP. Even though I had plenty of space on my 11 PM, I had to disable iCloud Photos and delete them from my iPhone, then it would let me transfer.

Thanks for the replies, everyone. Now I'm thinking if I should've just stuck with 256 storage like I always have.

I'm gonna try the iCloud route. Does it restore Watch data as well (like achievements and stuff)?

Hello we have the same problem! Have you found a solution to this yet? Or at least figured out as to what may have happened? I used to have 11PM 256 and only used 51GB, but when I transferred my stuff to 12PM through iTunes it says that I have now used 101GB out of 256.

I've had the same problem, although not due to storage. I am unable to restore a backup from my 11PM to my 12PM. Tried Quick Start transfer between phones, iCloud restore, as well as iTunes. I was able to restore a backup I had made on my 12 Pro before I returned it, so I think the 12PM is fine. Just seems that for some reason my 11PM is creating corrupted backups or something. Of course apple support was no real help. Anyone else have a similar issue?
