Hi,

Haver a 5 yr old 6S which I will be replacing as soon as the new ones become available, apparently in mid Sept.
True ?

The salesman in the Verizon store told me they no longer will transfer all the info on the old one to the new ones.
"you have to do it". Sure makes for horrible customer relations.

Am in my mid 80's now, and no longer very sharp with this "stuff".

So, may I please ask:

How do I go about this transfer ?
Specific how-to would be very appreciated.

And, is there more than one technique to consider ?

If so, what would be the easiest for me ?

Much thanks, appreciate the help,
Bob

Hi Bob,

The easiest way would, perhaps, be to back everything up to iCloud on the your current iPhone 6s and then restore your new phone (in mid September, when you get it) from that iCloud back-up: https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/icloud/mmab848634c8/icloud

Restoring your new iPhone with the backup will be quite easy - when you turn it on for the first time there will be a screen that offers you the opportunity to sign-in into your Apple ID, it will then pull down your back-up and ask you if you'd like to set-up your new iPhone with it: https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/icloud/mm7e756df7fd/icloud

It may be worth heading to your local Apple store (is there one near you?) - they will be able to help with the transfer for sure.

Best of luck,
Saladin

Follow that advice ^
Also the latest versions of iOS allow two phones to communicate directly with each other to transfer over all the data. Not sure if the 6S can do it, but you'll be prompted (if it's possible) when setting up the new iPhone for the first time.
But the traditional way we've all done it for years (the old fashioned way) is doing it as described in the post above by Saladin

The Verizon salesperson sounds like an idiot. Back up to iCloud on your phone, buy new phone, restore from iCloud backup. Easy Peasy

The easiest way is to backup your phone in iTunes on a computer and then restore y he new one from the backup.

That's what I've done since iphone 4.

Of course you have to have a computer with iTunes.

Or to a Mac with Finder
