Could you guys suggest to me the simplest way to tranfer everything from one ipad, to another one (I am upgrading to a 3g one)?

I am still unsure of what the ipad (or for that matter the iphone) backup does backup and what it does not. I know it doesn't backup the music files on the ipad/ipod/iphone, but what about files within an app? Do these get backed up?

I just wish there is a simple solution to that. Some might call me backward but I also wish I could just take an image (a la superduper) of the damn thing and keep it as a backup instead of the convoluted way things work at the moment...

You should be able to restore it from your old iPad's backup when you set it up. That should put everything on it that was on the old one.

At least that's how it works with iPhone upgrades.

Yes but the iphone doesn't have files stored within apps which could make a difference.

I bought a 64 GB 3G iPad, used it for several hours, and then decided to return it because the 64 GB was just overkill for me. I had installed several applications and photos and after returning it and getting a 16 GB unit I was able to transfer all the settings to the new iPad by restoring the previous iPad upon setup. It was very easy.

Thanks a lot for the info buddy. Good it hear it's as simple as that.

I do however still wonder about the files within the apps, seeing as the photos are synced to iphoto (and hence the backup can draw from them), but the files within the apps are not apparently synced to their respective folders/files on the mac (plus they change within the apps).

I swapped ipads 16gb to 32gb, it transferred all files in good reader, photos etc. Only thing I had to re enter was passwords.

Files within apps are treated like regular app data, and are included in the backups made by iTunes.
