Transferring files from old iMac to new iMac

Hi, I bought a new iMac yesterday to replace my other iMac (2 years old). I have transferred the data via an ethernet cable to my new Mac, however none of my photos from iPhoto transferred. Everything else transferred successfully. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You probably have to open iphoto and import the photos. The data (photos themselves) are on your new computer, but you need to import them into the program iphoto.

Did you run the migration assitant that should have copied everything or was it a drop and drag thing?
