I have a mate who has upgraded from an iBook to a MBP.

It's a bit buggy, but that's another story...

Anyway, he's in the process of transfering his files and settings over, and it's taking him a bit of time. I reckon the best way to move the files would be to put all his docs in the shared folder and network the computers with a firewire or ethernet cable. From mooching around here I've picked up the impression that you are best not transferring your settings as some bits of PPC stuff come across that play havoc (could have something to do with the bugginess he's talking about). I could be totally wrong, so I don't want to misdirect him and cause him to spend untold hours on settings as he (like me) has exams coming up.

Does anyone know if there's an easier way?

BTW this will be useful for me when I get my iMac:D
