Apologies in advance of the 'basicness' of this question but I seem to be having trouble copying all my current songs on my PC, dumping them onto the external drive I've got, to then drop them onto my new Imac

Can someone tell me if you simply select all songs, then copy and paste them onto the ext drive? or if you 'export'? 😕
I've been trying to do this and all I seem to get is 4gb out of 16gb onto the drive??
