Transferring pix FROM iphone TO mbp

friends with a (win doze) pc can plus their iPhones in by usb and it shows up as a external drive and they can xfer pix like that.. can we do that? i have a mbp with 10.7.3

why don't you just try it?

I guess it will automatically open iPhoto and transfer your pictures to the MBP when you connect the iPhone.

um i did try it and it doesn't do that which is why i posted

Assuming you have your iPhone plugged in, it should display all the photos/videos on it, with the option to then import.
Give it a bit of time to detect it once you've connected your iPhone, I've found the program woefully temperamental in Lion.

Does the iPhone show up in Finder?

iPhoto also does a good job of it. Just open it with your iPhone plugged in.

I have use a program called Phone Disk, but I also believe they make a free program called iExplorer that lets you browse your iPhone in Finder.
