Hi all,
I recently bought a 12-core Mac pro (Mid 2010), with 6gb of ram. I also own a 15" MacBook pro (mid 2009) with 8gb of ram. I would like to know if it is possible to transfer ram DIMMs from the MacBook pro to the Mac pro?

Thanks in advance,
Derek

The amount of pins is different. DDR3 SODIMMs (laptop) have 204 pins while DDR3 DIMMs (desktop) have 240 pins so it's physically impossible.

Plus the MP uses Error Correction Code RAM. Not sure if it's required, but Apple only ships ECC ram with all Pros.

Can't you see the difference?

Two totally different chips, it just wouldn't work at all.
