The iPad is a device that is loved and used extensively in our household, in house and at university. However this is done by two users. And frankly I find it cumbersome to constantly relog most of the websites, forums, social network sites etc. Seeing as the device is used on a pick-me-up bases for most of the time, I want this time to flow by as smoothly as possible. Also when using it to take notes in different classes or meetings, files get easily cluttered and lost when used by two people.

Are there any rumors flying around for a multiple user setup in a future iOS version or update?

And before anyone suggests; Yes I would love to own my very own iPad but that will have to wait until the inevitable update.

What if you each use different browsers? She takes safari and you take atomic?

Haven't seen any rumors, and that makes sense if you think about it. It's not at all in Apple's best interests to encourage multiple user accounts on a portable device. They want you to feel compelled to buy more than one. I can say it worked in our case. We have three generations of iPad users in our extended family, and at this point, only my in laws are sharing. Everyone else has their own, because sharing was a royal pain in the ass. My mother in law is already hinting it's past time for my father in law to get his own. LOL

As has been said, using different browsers will work for anything that's not apps based. As far as things like notes are concerned, use a program that will allow you to sort them into folders/categories/notebooks or the like (rather than the default Notes app), or use cloud storage that you can individually log into and store them there.

Once folders are enabled (or if you can jailbreak and add them now), you can set up folders for each user's individual apps that will at least make them easier to find. Unfortunately though, there's no way to duplicate apps on the same device.
