With Safari 7.x, reproducible with extensions off, something like this:
  1. https://forums.macrumors.com/watched/threads
  2. Command-Click the title of a topic
  3. click the tab for that topic, read the new posts
  4. reload that tab
  5. click the Unread Watched Threads tab
  6. scroll down
  7. point at some of the links
The links are not what's expected.

Screenshot attached, note the URL in the status bar; unrelated to what's indicated by the finger of the gloved hand.

In some places where there's no visible link, the gloved hand appears (and the status bar shows a URL for a link).

Screen recording available on request, 22.6 MB.

Maybe a transient local issue. Extraordinary. I'll restart the OS.

After the opening post I realised that the 'pointing misbehaviour' also occurred elsewhere.

The screenshot below did not capture the gloved hand, but the pointer was way below the button:

A simple quit of Safari seemed to work around or resolve the problem. Fingers crossed.

(I had experimented, carelessly, with Stylish not long before the problem became noticeable. Maybe Safari became confused in a way that switching off extensions could not cure.)
