I have it on right now, but am thinking of turning it off. Everytime my wallpaper changes and I come back to wake it up, the menu bar keeps the previous wallpaper background behind it.

Anyways, yay or nay?

:D

No. Opaque. Otherwise, it changes between apps, and is distracting when doing any graphics or imaging work. Even Aperture overrode it with an opaque bar (back before there was an option to disable the transparent one).

Cool - I'm turning it off then. Opaque wouldn't have any kind of a "burn in" affect would it?

I've never seen any - even back when I was using CRTs. Other than the short time when Apple lost their mind, it's been opaque since 1984.

Ive always used translucent, though I usually keep my background the same for a few months at a time

I always wondered how many people actually like and use the translucent bar. I know Apple has enabled it by default.

Personally I can't stand it. I went as far as to also remove it on our imaging server too.

I think I've used the translucent menu bar ever since I found out I could years ago. I never have any problems with it, like old wallpapers showing up behind it. I think it nice to have it look more like an overlay than a solid bar. :)
