Trash automatically deleting files!?

As of early this morning, when I put a file in the Trash Can, it automatically deletes it - no user prompt. Just gone. Suggestions?

Files from network drives are always deleted immediately. Only files from local drives are retained until you empty the trash.

It's also possible to have files automatically deleted 30 days after they have been put into the trash. You can turn this on in the Finder preferences.
