Trash Complications

Whenever I empty my trash the files disappear, although the trash still appears to be full with 5 "invisible" items. Is there a way to reset the trash or delete those 5 items?

Does it still appear to have items in it if you hold Option while you click the empty button?

try dragging them to the desktop, if you can desktop them change the permissions to the logged in user(give full permissions), drag them into the trash and re-empty it.

this should work.
