Trash Icon won't change even though it's empty

It's a 15" 2.66 i7

And when I try to empty the trash this is the message I get.

Even though the trash is empty, the icon won't change

help please

Well, it does look like you were messing with your system icons, and whatever you're trying to delete it still being used (probably by whatever app you changed you icons on).

Also, your subject is misleading, the icon isn't changing because it's not empty.

It IS empty because there's nothing in it?

And I haven't been messing with them at all?

your problem might be that there is no visible files but there might be some invisible files that are preventing the icon from changing as the need to be deleted first try using a app that show you all the hidden files and then open the trash and see whats in it.
