I have noticed recently that the Trash seems to take longer to empty than it usually does. It's mainly with larger files such as video files or quite a few .rar files in one folder. Where as not long ago files of the same size/format used to empty quicker than they do now.

Anyone know what could cause this?

I am not secure emptying the trash and I also don't have the Empty trash securely option checked in the finder preferences.

Have you installed mackeeper?
I had it already on system from when i bought it and found it was that that was messing with my trash. Trash-it is a free app and will help to empty your trash if having issues ;)
