heyy, im trying to delete my trash and it always leaves two 'alias kind' files in there. ive tried holding the option key while emptying? nothing seems to work.

also when i try and delete folders from a USB stick into my trash it wont let me, it comes up with this message from trash 'the operation can't be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code - 1407)

anyone any ideas?? thanks :(

For the Alias files, have you tried emptying the trash after you've restarted the Mac? That usually will work for files that give you an in use message when you try to empty the trash.

As far as the 1407 error, my understanding is that it's also caused by the file being in use and with external media you can put the drive in the trash to dismount it, and then after it disappears from the Desktop/Finder, remove it from the port and then plug it back in. You should then be able to trash the files.
