Peak beauty! I hope one day Apple returns to this design language even as a theme:

Seeing that screenshot reminds me of how immensely important Scott Forstall’s influence was. That UI is beautiful, intuitive, and even fun to use. I wonder how even more wonderful it would look if it were optimized for today’s Retina displays.

Aqua was Forstall’s brainchild.

Tim Cook has made plenty of horrible decisions (horrible for users, not for shareholders) as CEO of Apple, but among his worst decisions was firing Forstall.

I have a MacBook Pro with Mavericks on it and its probably the last version that shared some of the heritage with the old world OS X design and it looks stunning on Retina!
