I could use some help. I have a biz trip to the US coming up in a few weeks. I have an unlocked iPhone 12. I wanted to get a local sim as soon as I land in America. I found this T-mobile app and was wondering if any travelers to the US used it before?

Is it really that simple that when you land in the US, all you need to do is connect to the airport's free Wi-Fi and then use this app to sign up to a prepaid T-mobile plan and the eSim is downloaded to your iPhone right away?

In the past I've always bought a US sim before I arrived. But if this app actually works, it seems like this is the much easier and cheaper option.

Thanks for any feedback.

Visible is slow as molasses in some areas since it's deprioritized behind all other VZW traffic, and the network is already congested as is.

To answer OP's question: Yes, you can sign up for a T-Mobile eSIM with the prepaid eSIM app but they do collect personal information and it does take 5-10 min for the whole process.

Yes, it's really that simple and works well. You might be able to activate it before you land, no harm in trying. Just don't actually use it until you land, so turn roaming off on that line. Just find a zip/postal code from the area you'll be staying in to activate a number from the primary area. It's precisely what eSIMs are great for!

Agree with the above poster that Visible is awful.
