After having used Palm PDAs for years, and Treos for the last several, I'm >< this close to making the jump from a Verizon Treo 700P to an iPhone. I've done the research and am fine with transferring my contacts and calendar, but I'm concerned about the lack of Memo-type app. Notes isn't remotely adequate, and I've been scouring the App Store for something, because I have 10+ years of Memos in my Treo that I use constantly. I have to have something that is stored on the phone (no web app), and syncs to my iBook. I could live without being able to edit it on the computer if I had to, but I'd be too afraid to have it only on my iPhone.

If you used Memos extensively on your Treo, have you found something that's working for you?

    Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_0 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5A347 Safari/525.20)

evernote is in the appstore and syncs through Internet with iPhone, desktop and online for free. You cannot edit already saved notes on iPhone yet but that is coming. You can create new notes on iPhone.

Thanks, I'll check it out with fresh eyes. I had looked at it for use on my iBook, but couldn't really see how I could use it effectively. And from what I remember, it seems a bit "much" as a Memos replacement. But who knows? Maybe it'll be even better than a simple Memos app.

    Anyone else have any suggestions?

ETA: Wait, it stores everything on their servers, so it's a web app. No, I can't do that. I have to find something that stores on the iPhone and Mac.

Very interested in what you find out

Having the exact same issue - at least ten years of Memos, and depending on it because of failing memory... or just force of habit.

Evernote is stored online? Hmmm, not so great.

For now, I'm making do with Things. There's an iPhone app for $10, and a desktop app that free for now (in Beta), but will be $30. It syncs wirelessly over WiFi, and is editable on both formats.

The biggest drawback is that it's actually a to-do app, not a notes/memos app, so I have to be creative in terms of how I organize and store my notes, but it's the best I've seen so far. Still not perfect, though...
