Trick iTunes into syncing 1080p with iPad 1 or 2

I converted a few movies thru Handbrake at 1080p for my iPad. The movies play fine on the iPad but I can't use iTunes to sync them...had to use other means. The movies are h.264 with an AAC 2.0 track and an AC3 5.1 track as an M4V file. Since the iPad can obviously play 1080p is there any way to "trick" iTunes into syncing these to my iPad. I tried setting the MetaData to 720p but still no go. I would really like to just use iTunes to manage everything for my iPad.

Hi Scott,

I did the same and was able to sync them normally. Which preset did you use? I guess it's down to the profile and not to the metadata/resolution. I used the Apple TV 2 preset, but increased the picture size up to 1080p. Also M4V with both AAC and AC3 tracks.

I was able to sync to my iPad 2 and iPhone 4S with no problem.

I did realize though that a 1080p movie bought from iTunes did not sync. Shame, as the device seems perfectly capable of playing. For those movies I still have to use the 720p.
