I have purchased a new MacBook Pro. My old PC died, and the only access I have to my 40GB of music is stuck on my iPod (old monochrome kind).

How could I transfer my music from my iPod to the new MacBook Pro without allowing iTunes to automatically restore my iPod before I get the chance to transfer the songs?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I am aware that there is third party software out there that transfers your library back on your HD, but since the iPod will be connecting to a new Mac won't iTunes automatically attempt to restore the iPod before this software can do its thing?

If it can copy it over before iTunes 7 automatically restores my iPod, that would be wonderful.
