Lauren,
Make sure you have the right iOS 6 for your phone. If you downloaded a GSM file and have a CDMA phone, it isn't going to work.

Obviously they did because iTunes won't even load the OS if it's not the correct file. The issue is they can't log in during the setup once they've already restored.

I just read the OP again after the post I made. I had missed that part. My bad. :)

Don't know if this will work, but Cult of Mac gives this remedy Lauren.

If you get an iTunes error at this point, and the process will not continue, open up Finder, click “Go” in the menu bar, then type “etc” and hit return. Now look for a file named “hosts” and copy it to your desktop.

Open up that file in TextEdit, then look for the line that reads “74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com” and delete it. Now save the file and replace the original in the “etc” folder with the copy you just edited.

Are see the error in iTunes??? If so have you just unplugged the phone from the computer? I have out iOS 7 on my iPhone 5 twice but end up reverting back to 6.1.4. Both times I got the invalid iTunes accounts in iTunes. I decided to pull the plug. All was good. Now I do have an Developers account and have my phone UDID registered which might eliminate the issue.

From what I understand if you go into Find my iPhone in iCloud and "remove" the iPhone from Find my iPhone the activation lock should be deactivated, that is if the issue you're facing is the activation lock because seeing as you said you've installed 6.1.4 the feature shouldn't even exist,
Hope this helps,

Pietro

This just might do it, Lauren. And if this doesn't do it... you might consider booking an appointment at the Apple Store, because it will be a lot easier to explain things in person than through an internet forum. Just don't mention your iOS 7 adventure, because they might be reluctant to help you if they find that you've had the beta on your phone.

Good luck!

Had the same issue today Lauren when I downgraded from beta 7 to 6.1.4. It wouldn't accept my password. I logged into apple with it to verify the pw was correct, but it still wouldn't work. I then tried another password I use for some email and other apps and somehow it worked fine. The pw I used is not registered or used with apple in any way.... So I have no idea why it used it. I suggest trying any other passwords you may use, even though u know it isn't your apple id password. Good luck

I had the same problem. Its the new "Find my iPhone" thing they intruduced with ios 7. If you restore while Find my iphone is activated, it will ask you for password and apple id after restore.

iTunes didn't accept my password, but the setup on the iphone itself did.
