Trouble restoring Timemachine Backup

On my last mac I had an external TimeMachine Backup. Now on my new Macbook Pro, I can't see the files when I launch TimeMachine.

If I browse the files in Finder, I can see the backups. However, there are multiple copies of the files because TimeMachine keeps old versions of files.

Please help!

Have you tried running Migration Assistant? That's what you use to pull your files from a TM backup
