I'm not sure if I'm suppose to download the IPSW file to my PC or my iPad. And how do you go about doing it, through iTunes? I'm such a noob to this. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I usually get the IPSWs from here: http://www.felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/
Download it to your computer, go to the summary tab of the device in iTunes, hold the Shift key and click Restore iPad..., select the IPSW you downloaded, and just wait for it to finish.
This works fine on the latest iTunes. I did it myself yesterday.
