I am back to trying to put windows on my mac. I partitioned the hard drive, and then put in the windows disk and to begin the installation process. During said process, when I come to the point to select the partition to install windows on, I'm only given one choice. Partition1 [unknown] with 131 some thousand mb (which isn't the correct size of either partition). I printed out the setup guide, and it clearly says that there should be a partition called Partition3 <BOOTCAMP>. So I quit out of the installation out of fear of erasing OSX and restarted holding option to get back into OSX. The strange part is that there is the windows option when starting, but there isn't an option for that partition upon windows installation.

edit: The strange part is I can see the partition on my desktop an in disk utilities, but not during windows installation.

What am I doing wrong here? Any help is appreciated.

I partitioned using boot camp, thats why I'm confused that there is no boot camp partition to pick from.

Something not quite right here - you should not have a windows option if you have not installed it - there is nothing to boot from...

So when you try to install windows what are your partition options ?

You say you do not recognise the size of the partition - what size partition did you choose ? Check in disc utility that you really have a bootcamp partition and its size.

Might be best to go back to BootCamp assistant and remove the partition and then repartition and try again.

It shows the windows option with a disk instead of a hard drive, so I'm pretty sure it's just offering me to start the windows installation again.

Disk utility shows the partition, in the size I chose [50gig]. But when I launched the windows installation, and chose the partition to install it on, it only gives me one choice, that isn't the same as anything I partitioned, nor is it labeled boot camp.

I've tried doing it over again, what am I missing here.
