Ok. I deleted the resources file from the Package Contents of the dock on my macbook, to give the dock a reflective look. Now i can not drag icons off the dock. Every time I do the dock crashes and resets to how it was before.

Anyone have any suggestions on what I should do?

Move the com.apple.dock.plist file to the trash from the ~/Library/Preferences/ folder.

Then go to Terminal and type:

    killall Dock

And if that doesn’t work, do the old standby: Repair Disk Permissions under Disk Utility.

It should have come right back after the command. Reboot your mac.
