Hi, I am having trouble updating OSX and Java for Mac. This is my first Mac (got it on Tuesday :D) When I first downloaded the two updates the files 'corrupted' and they won't install. I was wondering where these files are stored so I could delete them and re-download them. Is this even possible? What should I do? I'm loving my Mac apart from this small issue.
Any help is much appreciated.

Did you downloaded through software update? Did you properly restart it when a box popped up asking to restart your computer after the download? I'm sure you could find the files at apple's page. Try clicking software update again to see if anything is available for download to update your computer.
