Same exact issue here. 2020 13" 4 TB MBP. The True Tone sensor gets very erratic and confused depending upon the time of day and room lighting. I experience it the worst in the morning in a naturally lit room. Terminal command doesn't resolve the issue at all. Very annoying. I have seen this across multiple MBP models all the way back to the 2017/2018 machines. Apple definitely needs to acknowledge and get on this seeing as it has lingered for years. What an eyesore!

Well, it hasn't happened since I first entered the command in terminal over a month ago, until today! Unbelievable!

Just noticed this very same issue on my new 2020 Macbook Pro 13". I'll try the terminal command and will report back.

My True Tone was acting weird the first few days but seems to have stabilized after 2 weeks. Maybe it's doing some ML in there to figure out a typical environment?

This happened when a bright light/sun is behind me. truetone keeps changing like it's trying to adapt to the bright light source behind me. It never occurs anymore after I changed my mbp's position.

Mine once started to shift the color temperature quite quickly for no reason, but there's a terminal command to reset True Tone:
Code:
sudo pmset resetdisplayambientparams
Restarted the computer afterwards and never had the issue again afterwards.
This command also worked to resolve all my true tone issues.

2018 macbook pro. is anyone else's true-tone display developed an issue of rapidly flickering between hues? it's definitely true tone because turning it off stops the flicker.

My new 2020 MacBook Pro right out of the box has True Tone flickering issue. This is an exchange of my original purchase due to the same problem.

My True Tone has been going nuts the last few weeks - periodically when I open the lid from sleep, the display is so new white you can't see a thing. I turned off True Tone for good yesterday. I'll try the sudo command and see if that helps.

Same issue on my MacBook Pro 2020. I have the issue also on a 2018 MacBook Pro , all running 10.15.6

Same issue for me. The screen suddenly switches from a blue to a yellow tone and vice versa without a smooth transition. When I turn off True Tone, the problem is gone. Hope they will fix it in Big Sur!

I not only had to turn off Turn Tone, but Night Shift as well to keep it from dimming the brightness of my display. That has finally worked, the slider has not moved at all. Nice features I wish I could use them, but Night Shift caused the slider to move a full one-third of the total slider distance in dimness!

Hey everyone! I have a 2020 13" 4 TB MBP, and the same thing is happening, quite often lately and it's very annoying. I used the code from above posts, restarted the laptop, but did not help.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks

Same here, started today. Had to switch True Tone off, was acting like a jump scare lol. Maybe this is a Big Sur feature? Just installed it recently.
