When keeping True Tone on and looking directly at the screen I get a yellowish more Tone. Wonder if most people turn it off or keeping it?

On and do as below. Credit from another MacRumors member but I can’t find the original thread now.

“Thought my screen tone is just way too warm when I started using the phone, so did some adjustment to make it more natural.

Go to Settings->General-> Accessibility ->Display Accommodation->Color Filter-> Switch to ON->Check Color Tint-> Scroll Intensity & Hue all the way to the right ->Adjust Hue to the left so that the screen color from Red to Purple-ish (Towards Blue). Once you determine the sweet point, scroll intensity all the way to the left. Now you should have a much better display tone.”

I tried it as it came for a day to give it a fair chance. It’s now off. Being off also reduces the perceived change in color off axis, since you’re starting with a bluer screen.

Oh, definitely OFF right away! Every Time I was typing on the phone one handed and the phone would move ever so slightly from side to side, I could notice the screen color changing back and forth.

Even so, I too do not like the yellow effect it gives.

When I got my 8+ I kept it on for about 10 minutes and then turned it off. I've tried it a few times since then in different lighting scenarios and always quickly turned it off. In every situation I've used it, it either made no difference or made everything look a bit yellow, like Nightshift, which I also stopped using immediately.

For the iPad, I would prefer to have it on. But for the iPhone, I don't necessarily need to have Tru-Tone activated on a regular basis.

I’m falling into the, I don’t know category at the moment. I did prefer it off, calibrating the screen to how I like it and that’s just fine.

But out of curiosity I’ve been trying it the past few hours, still calibrating the screen to make it less yellow, more how I like it. And, well it’s not always the perfect tone I would like but I am finding it surprisingly easier on the eyes.

I’m going to give it a go for a day or two, see if I adjust to it and I might just keep it for the less strain on my eyes.
