I just plugged in my Neo to the prior gen Apple Studio Display (ASD) and it actually works on both the Neo and ASD. I rebooted the device thinking it was a fluke but nope, still works. Another thing Apple software locked it seems.
Edit: maybe it’s using the ASD sensor?

Isn't true tone based on physical hardware?
The fact that the Neo doesn't have true tone is due to what is not included in the laptop,vs. what is included in the external display.

The Neo can use true tone, so maybe it’s using the ASD sensor??? Both the ASD and Neo adjust to True Tone when turned on/off if connected.

This is nice to know as I use the ASD with my Studio Mac.
That is cool. Does this mean True Tone works on external displays with a MBP because the MBP has a sensor? I never bothered to look at that. I use a third party 2.5k monitor with MBP
