When Sonys sound better, Apple people say it’s subjective.

When Apple sounds better, Apple people say because it’s better.

Hopefully that clears the difference on why some Apple reviews like this one gets criticized.

Nothing but another generalisation. For the record, I wouldn’t call myself an ‘Apple’ person in the space of audio gear

I can seamlessly switch audio from one device to another with the jabra's as well. No need for an H1 chip. When it comes to a product like headphones you can never say one is better than the other... It might be better for some but its very subjective. You can say "the airpods are better for me" and thats perfectly fine... but making a general sweeping statement that they are just better is plain wrong.
No way your switch between iPhone and iPad is faster than AirPods with H1.

I mean its instantenous... I can make a video and show you if you'd like... it even switches over if I get a phone call on my phone... H1 is not the end all be all that Apple would like you to think.

I actually owned all of these for a brief period of time.

AirPods Pro are a 7 out of 10 on sound. AirPods are a 4 out of 10. Anker is an 8 out of 10. PowerBeats are a 7.5.

You are smoking crack if you think the Anker is a 7 and the AirPods Pro are a 10. I suggest that you didn't seat the Anker earbuds into your ear properly if you think they only rate a 7.

When I decided I needed Bluetooth headphones for gym use, I considered Senheisser Momentums, as sound quality is top of requirements along with comfort. However I wasn't prepared to buy a disposable product. I expect Senheissers in the £200+ range to last 10 years. I ended up buying a FiiO BTR3 portable Bluetooth headphone amp. I can use any phones I want without being wired to the audio master device, tucked under my gym top or in a pocket. It offers high quality, low latency audio. It pairs very easily with any device I have tried (back to a Samsung Note 10 tablet from 2012) and connects easily to any of the devices I choose as the audio master. It can be connected to two Bluetooth devices and one can toggle between each device with a simple dedicated switch on the side ofthe case. What are these issues that the "cure for cancer" H1 chip is supposed to solve? And BTR3 only cost £65.
Also, for anyone to suggest that sales volume is a marker for quality is strange. Think McDonald's v Five Guys burgers :)

No way Air Pods Pro have 10 of sound quality They're more like 8 on 10. If you compare with the Sony's, they have a less premium sound to it.
That was my first thought.
Any attempt at being unbiased is completely lost with that rating

Are they? Why do you say that? I'm curious as I can get a discount through my employer making the Jabra's less than $100, but the powerbeats integration with the phone make them interesting to me. I use mine almost exclusively at the gym so want a tight fit. Would love to hear your thoughts.

So before these I used the studio 3s, but when do overhead lifts, the headphone would get in the way. Then I tried the AirPods, which were a complete disaster. I tried some other wireless earbuds as well, but since I've gotten the Powerbeats pro, no problem what so ever, I can do all my lifts, doesn't fall off when I do laying down exercises. Phone calls are easy as well, one press to pick up. I take them out of the case right before I get out of my car and they instantly connect with a chime acknowledging you are connected. Id be happy to answer any other questions as well. I really do love these for the gym.

I had a pair of AirPods 2 but they kept falling out (I must have large earholes).

Switched to Jabra 65t's, which are very good, but could not resist switching to AirPods Pro.

The AirPods Pro, with the large size silicon tip, do stay in place. A bit more comfortable than the Jabras over an extended period. The noise cancellation is very good, and the switch between modes, by pressing the stalk, is easy & convenient. A volume control on the stalk would be good. Main issue is the relatively poor battery life, I'd like to have a full day's life in them. I eke it out by using them singly rather than as a pair.
Are you saying that you listen to music with only one APP in. Or do you just use for calls

Microsoft Surface earbuds are a joke 🤦🏻‍♂️
Postponed (indefinitely I would hope).

have you tried Microsoft earbuds? Seems kinda silly to call them a jokeif you’ve never used them.

Not trolling at all. I know very well Android world.
No quality there. Just cheaper solutions.
Do you like it ? Good for you.
I would hardly call a Galaxy S10 or Google Pixel "cheaper". If you know the Android world well then you would know there are plenty of Android phones that match the quality of an iPhone. I've gone back and forth between iPhone and Android phones over the years, and I'm quite confident in saying that without bias or subjective interpretation of what quality means, that there are in fact a good number of Android phones out there that are just as premium as iPhones, at least so far as hardware goes. The fact that there are cheap and honestly horrendous Android phones out there doesn't mean there can't also be excellent Android phones as well.

Rather surprised the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless weren't part of this: I’ve yet to find a review of them which doesn’t agree they’re the best sounding of the bunch.

Along with the Master & Dynamic MW07+, yes. These are the two that most challenge the "sound quality is subjective" truism; they sound noticeably different from each other, but also noticeably better than most everything else mentioned.

I think everything I wanted to say has already been said:
1 - Sound quality is subjective
2 - No wireless earbuds deserve a 10/10 rating on sound quality - check
3 - I Love my AirPods pros BUT I do think the Sony's sound better (see point 1 above)

The only new thing I wanted to add was in reference to this line in the review of the Jabra's
"We weren't entirely sure what hearthrough mode was meant to do, but it didn't seem to work well."

That struck me as truly lame - Jabra had Hearthrough before Apple had 'Transparency' - they do the same thing which is to allow the wearer to hear what is going on around them. Arguably Apple's version sounds more natural (Jabra's sounds over-amplified) but saying you dont know what it does and it didnt work very well sounds like not much effort was put in.

Dude, I love android and I’m using one as my daily driver, along with my iPhone 11 Pro (I need to have two, with 3 plans).
There are great phones in Android world, just not “so great” like iPhone.
Not going to open an OT about “iOS vs Android“ here.
I stand my point, being a long time Android user.

APP 10 for SQ is absurd. Compared to my CIEMs (reshelled Shure s530) I definitely appreciate air pressure release/control. With my CIEMs head feels like it's going to explode.

Is the difference in sound quality between the AirPods Pro and the Sony WF1000XM3s significant enough that if my only two devices are an iPhone and a MacBook Pro I should still get them despite the way AirPods pair and play via iOS and Mac OS?

The Sony WF-1000XM3 sound better, great sound stage and sound separation. Bass is fantastic. Noise canceling is really good, but I don't use it. Touch controls are customizable but I don't use them either for I'm not that lazy as to not reach my iPhone from my pocket and change a song or rise the volume. I bought it for the sound, I don't care about features, just quality of sound and battery, and the Sony WF-1000XM3 they deliver comfort and great sound to my ears. I can wear them for long time without feeling discomfort, the ear tips are very soft.

The Sony WF-1000XM3 support the AAC and Codec SBC only, and something that all the reviewers forget to mention or don't know is that the iPhone will have to make a conversion from MP3 to AAC to send the data via bluetooth to the Sony WF-1000XM3 and that will kill the iPhone battery faster. All my music is encoded in MP3 320kb and personally I don't care about the battery usage... It's not that noticeable, but people will complaint, personally I only care about sound quality.

Will I buy this earphones again knowing about this conversion that the iPhone has to do from MP3 to AAC? Yes I will! They sound better that the Air Pods Pro.

Apple AirPods Pro should cost no more than $149.00 and the AirPods 2 no more that 49.99.

I already started to re-encode my MP3’s to AAC 256/320kbps a while ago. ;) I still have some MP3’s but that’s it.

I just hope the WF-1000XM4’s will be smaller in size coming outwardly from the ears, same battery life (in/out the case) smaller case with Qi charging (a bonus not a must have for me), and 1 additional mic (3 total per bud) where it’s used exclusively for Audioquality (calls and voice -2- text transcribing) in harmony of 1 more.

Apple Watch = Volume Control

I use my phone. For me, I usually have my phone in my hand, so it's even easier than using my watch. While I don't discount those who don't care for the current state of volume control, it suits me fine. I'd find fiddling with my AirPods more annoying than just hitting the volume button. My fingers are already on the buttons. I've tried my watch and thought it was a cool idea, but I find my phone to be the easiest option. I'm not opposed to betters controls, I just wouldn't use it.
